Recently we had Starving Students of Oakland do our move. I am pretty disgusted with them. They stole my son's I-Pad. Please do not trust these people if you are planning a move. They are a bunch of hoodlums and crooks. Do not have these people move your things. If you do, make sure that you watch them carefully. We filed a police report on them and I am certain that they investigated, but we are not out of an I-Pad and maybe even more. They are a bunch of thieves.
They should call these people Starving Thieves, not Starving Students. Bunch of thieves.

Gateway Motors
Gateway Motors, 17066 E 14th St(between 170th Ave & 171st Ave) Hayward, CA 94541
I came across this place while searching for a used van and purchased one. Here's what I have to say. Take me seriously and believe every word I say.
Stay away from this place. Liars, cheats, scoundrels. Never buy a vehicle from these people. Everything seemed fine. While I was signing the paperwork, one of their workers drove the car off the lot and replaced a fuse for the ABS and brakelight idiot lights. They had taken it out so those lights would not go on to make me think there was no problem. I got taken by these f*&(&ers. $800 to fix. They put stop leak in the radiator to hide leak problems, possibly the water pump. These people are sick. Don't go near this place. They are very dishonest and the scum of the earth. Stay away. Bunch of low-life thiefs. Crud. Garbage. Liars. Cheats. Scum. Sickos.

Bay Area Thrift Stores
San Leandro. Thrift Town 16160 East 14th St. San Leandro, CA I absolutely loved this thrift store. It was huge, well organized, and packed full of fabulous items. I had a hard time finding much clothes that I liked or that were not outrageously priced. I did find some great slips here, so it could have just been an off day for the clothes I looked at. They had a wonderful selection of books, household items, vintage shoes, and luggage. I definitely, definitely am going back next time I make my rounds up North!
Berkeley Goodwill 2058 University Avenue, Berkeley, CA This is a nice big store. Unfortunately we were on our way to lunch and I only had a chance to look through a small portion of their clothes. The prices are about the same as most shops in the area, and though I didn’t find anything spectacular, I think it could have just been an off day. I will probably go back if I happen to be in that area again.
Oakland Clausen House Thrift 4834 Telegraph Ave Oakland, CA I went to this thrift store a while back with my mom and had some pretty good luck finding good items. This time around, the whole store looked different, and while more organized, I didn’t see a single thing in this tiny store that so much as caught my eye. I would only go back if I were walking by and needing to kill a few minutes.
Saint Vincent de Paul Outlet Store 9235 San Leandro St. Oakland, CA This was a funny store, and one that would be incredibly easy to miss. I’m not sure how my mom found it, seeing that the outlet is in back of another store, which you have to walk through to get to. They had a fair selection of clothes, were very well organized, and not too overpriced. There was a huge selection of furniture, and only one other shopper in the store, which was kind of strange, but we had lots of room to look!
I have composed a listing of Thrift Stores in the Bay Area.... Oakland, San Leandro, El Ceritto, San Francisco, etc. Go here to see our Bay Area Thrift Store guide.

Gas Prices down to $1.69 at San Leandro COSTCO
I can't not remember when I saw prices that low for gas. OPEC could be getting ready to slow production. I think you can bank on it.....well, actually you can't really 'bank' on anything nowadays.
In LaPorte, Indiana, gas is going for $1.19. In Lahaina, Hawaii, gas is the highest at $2.89. National Average is $1.64. Can you believe it?
COSTCO IS AT $1.62 In Fremont and Antioch. Lowest in California is $1.65 in Paradise,

COSTCO GAS
There's a number of stations selling gas for less than $2.00 per gallon. COSTCO in Concord located at 2400 Monument Avenue is going for $1.99. The COSTCO in San Leandro is selling at $2.19.
Hopefully prices will continue to drop to well under $2.o0

COSTCO GAS
After holding steady at $2.43 for the past week, the COSTCO in San Leandro lowered its prices to $2.35. Throw in our 2 percent rebates and that comes to $2.30. Keep going baby, keep going. I recall that last year, prices decreased until one week prior to the election and then a couple weeks later, they began going up.It would be nice to get this down under $2.00, but is that asking too much?
I keep wondering how come their gas prices are $.30-$.50 lower than everybody else? Are the other people trying to make larger profits and does Costco use the gas prices as a 'leader' to get people to shop there? Well, if the average shopped purchases 12 gallons of gas and if Costco should have had their prices 25 cents more (in-line with other gas companies, who have been ripping us off big time) than they are theoretically giving each 'shopper' $3.00 and if their lower gas prices bring more people to spend money in the store, then that is one hell of a 'leader' for them.

Best 'Fast Food' in Hayward
Here's a small listing of the best fast food restaurants in the city of Hayward, CA.
Val's Burgers, 2115 Kelly St, Hayward, CA (510) 889-8257 Great burgers!!! Rather expensive. This place has been voted as having the Best Hamburgers in Hayward, CA and they are telling the truth. The Papa Burger is gigantic and a meal in itself.
Porky's Pizza Palace, 1221 Manor Blvd, San Leandro, CA Really good pizza - privately owned. This is located in San Leandro, but we have nothing better in Hayward!
Sam's Quarter Pound Burgers 18401 Hesperian Blvd San Lorenzo (best burgers on west side of Highway 880, etc.)
London Fish and Chips 18890 Hesperian Blvd. (Best Fish & Chips in town!!)
Caesar's Chicken Inc. 19450 Hesperian Blvd (great chicken! However, old (retired) owners ran the place better and the food was better. However, it's still pretty good and you can also get spaghetti, ravioli, french fries, potatoe salad, etc.
So, there you go people. Some of the best take-out food Hayward has to offer. Hayward does have a number of other fine dining restaurants. I have been going to these places for many years.
Togo's on Hesperian is pretty good, as are just about all the other ones...except for the one on Jackson Street. Ordered a roast beef and cheese, etc. sandwich and for some ridiculous reason, they did not include the roast beef... never went there the next 5 years!!!
I lived in Alameda many years ago and in 1974, I began getting delicious sandwiches at Dimitra's on Park Street. 1251 Park St (between Encinal Ave & San Antonio Ave) Alameda, CA 94501 (510) 521-3737. Click here to see some 'Yelp' reviews on this place. At one time, there were three locations, one on Central (near Webster St) and another location. However, the third location closed down many years ago and the one on Central just closed down about a year ago because the owners have sold the business, moved to Florida, etc. This place puts Subway to shame. I live in Hayward and I still go here for sandwiches and eat them alongside the water at the old Alameda Naval Air Station, reminiscing about my days stationed there.
Back in the 70's there was a pizza take out named Chef Romano's and was located out on Bay Farm Island. This place is in my all-time Take out food HALL OF FAME. Been gone for ages, but the pizza was the best I had ever eaten.
