Come on down and enjoy the festival, located on Shell Blvd., in Foster City. Our booth is located in space #257 (DandL CREATIONS) and we sell shoulder sling bags, wrap around skirts and much more. A number of years ago, we had done the July 4th event at the Community Center and it was quite enjoyable and we are pleased to return to Foster City and hopefully we shall be doing this event for years to come.

This community event will be held beside the lagoon in Leo Ryan Park, at the corner of E. Hillsdale Blvd. and Shell Boulevards includes free admission and free parking at Parkside Towers. Festivities will include arts and crafts for your home, great food for your palate, beer and boutique wines, a variety of entertainment, a carnival, lagoon cruises, and more - something for the whole family. This year the festival introduces a “Green Street” with various booths promoting sustainability information, services and products for our community.
The festival will welcome over 25,000 visitors. Entertainment has been expanded to include three performance areas – the Meadow Stage will be alive with popular music for all ages and the Shell Performance Area for more intimate performers, and the Lagoon Amphitheater for local community groups including, dancers, YAC talent show, martial arts demonstrations, and a K9 demonstration will also be featured throughout the weekend.

The Contemporary Crafts Market will return to San Francisco’s historic Fort Mason Center March 14-15, 2009, and will showcase over 230 of the nation’s finest artists and their distinctive works.As the premiere event for one-of-a-kind functional and decorative crafts, the show will present a broad range of pieces including intricate jewelry, unique glassware and ceramics, hand-painted textiles, custom furniture, mixed-media creations and much more.

Get ready to grow "Green...with Envy" at the 57th annual Pacific Orchid Exposition (POE), March 5-8 at Fort Mason Center in San Francisco.Known as one of the top three orchid shows in the country, the Pacific Orchid Exposition boasts over 150,000 orchids from around the globe. The theme for the 2009 POE is "Green...with Envy" and will highlight orchid preservation and eco-friendly growing tips. In addition to the plethora of orchid displays, there will also be tours and potting demonstrations. The event will open with the prestigious Gala Benefit Preview Night, March 5th, where guests can enjoy wine from 22 Northern California wineries, delicious hors d'oeuvres, live music, a silent auction and more. Bay Area Thrift Stores

San Leandro. Thrift Town 16160 East 14th St. San Leandro, CA I absolutely loved this thrift store. It was huge, well organized, and packed full of fabulous items. I had a hard time finding much clothes that I liked or that were not outrageously priced. I did find some great slips here, so it could have just been an off day for the clothes I looked at. They had a wonderful selection of books, household items, vintage shoes, and luggage. I definitely, definitely am going back next time I make my rounds up North!

Berkeley Goodwill 2058 University Avenue, Berkeley, CA This is a nice big store. Unfortunately we were on our way to lunch and I only had a chance to look through a small portion of their clothes. The prices are about the same as most shops in the area, and though I didn’t find anything spectacular, I think it could have just been an off day. I will probably go back if I happen to be in that area again.

Oakland Clausen House Thrift 4834 Telegraph Ave Oakland, CA I went to this thrift store a while back with my mom and had some pretty good luck finding good items. This time around, the whole store looked different, and while more organized, I didn’t see a single thing in this tiny store that so much as caught my eye. I would only go back if I were walking by and needing to kill a few minutes.

Saint Vincent de Paul Outlet Store 9235 San Leandro St. Oakland, CA This was a funny store, and one that would be incredibly easy to miss. I’m not sure how my mom found it, seeing that the outlet is in back of another store, which you have to walk through to get to. They had a fair selection of clothes, were very well organized, and not too overpriced. There was a huge selection of furniture, and only one other shopper in the store, which was kind of strange, but we had lots of room to look!

KPFA Crafts and Music Fair

The 38th Annual KPFA Crafts & Music Fair, the largest weekend holiday craft fair of its kind in Northern California, to be held December 13 & 14, 2008 at the Concourse Exhibition Center in San Francisco. Every year, more than 10,000 collectors, craft enthusiasts and holiday shoppers attend this signature event that features 220 craftsmakers and artists from throughout the country , a gourmet food pavilion and live performances by some of the area’s leading world musicians – all in a warm and spirited ambiance that reflects the Bay Area’s great diversity.

Website VENDORS: This event is listed in Craftmaster News and I would believe they are filled up. For informational purposes. booth fees range from $475-900 with 200 booths.

San Francisco Crystal Fair

SAN FRANCISCO'S CHRISTMAS CRYSTAL FAIR

Location: Fort Mason Center, 99 Marina Blvd. @ Buchannan Street, San Francisco

Hours: Saturday 10am - 6pm, Sunday 10am - 4pm
Admission: $6.00 (children under 12 free accompanied by adult)

If you like minerals, crystals, geodes, semi-precious jewelry, etc., then you might find a trip to this event enjoyable. We were vendors at this event many times but people came there mostly for the 'rocks' and I would tend to believe much of our merchandise wasn't suitable for this type of event. Many of the dealers do quite well there. You can see some really beautiful amethyst cathedrals there. At one time, we were selling them also, but we were not equipped to be lugging them around in our van and they were quite heavy. You have to be very careful when handling them.

It was enjoyable doing the show and the other vendors were very nice. There was a Safeway across the street where we picked up food occasionally. Nothing to eat over at Fort Mason. We did this event before in November and February and it always seemed to rain on at least one of the days. Our biggest problem was the traffic head down Van Ness over to the Bay Bridge. That was a mess. In some areas, you would have to wait for 3 light changes before you could snake your way through the intersection. Probably be quicker to head over to the Golden Gate bridge, go to San Rafael and take the Richmond bridge and 580 over to 880.

Off topic: If you ever attend this event, drop over to Mike, who is set up there to give massages and he is pretty decent. Whenever we did this event, both my wife and I always stopped by his space for one. Prices are reasonable.

Brews on the Bay - Sep 13-14

Here's an interesting event for all you beer drinkers out there. This is for your information only; no retail vendors here. Hours for the festival are 12:00-4:30 PM, Saturday and Sunday on Pier 45.

The San Francisco Brewers Guild is excited to present its fifth annual Brews on the Bay beer festival. All seven of San Francisco's artisan breweries will serve their finest & freshest beers on Saturday, September 13th and Sunday, September 14th from noon to 4:30pm. This fun filled event takes place aboard the Jeremiah O'Brien at Pier 45 and is a benefit for this historic WWII Liberty Ship. So come enjoy over 50 remarkable beers, live music and delicious food. 14th Annual Daly CIty-Quezon City Fil-Am Festival

Daly City, home of the largest Filipino-American community in the United States, will host the 14th Annual Filipino-American (Fil-Am) Friendship celebration on June 28 and 29, 2008, at the Serramonte Shopping Center Mall. The Daly City festival remains to be the longest-running Fil-Am event in the Bay Area that offers free admission. For more information, please check the following link:

I am not associated with the organization, but we have been a vendor at this event for approximately 8-9 years when it was at Westlake Shopping Center. We did not participate the past 2 years that it's been held at Serra Bowl. This is the first year that the festival is at Serramonte Shopping Center. Over the years, I guess attendance has been around 3,000-5,000. We enjoyed doing this event and listening to the entertainment, which was sensational the year they celebrated the Philippines' Independence. It was very difficult to set up and take down our displays in Westlake, since it was quite confining. Security was a major issue there also and the mall was declining, with many empty stores our last couple years there.

Fiesta Filipina - San Francisco

June 7-8. I am hoping to hear from people who did this event. Originally we planned in participating in this festival for the 9th consecutive year, but when I contacted the 'new promoter' I found out that spaces were $700. So, we signed up to do the Hercules Cultural Festival in the East Bay. While in Oakdale, I was told that there was another promoter involved who was offering spaces for $375.00 and that would have been fine with me, but I had already paid for the other event and we were unable to participate. Still, the $375 was a hefty increase in booth fees for this show and us vendors are victims of price gouging by promoters, etc.

Anyhow, we do expect to return to Fiesta Filipino at Civic Center Plaza in San Francisco next year and we hope to see a lot of our returning customers and other vendors with whom we have shared our aquaintances with over the years. The entertainment there has always been great and occasionally is beamed back to 'The Islands'. In the past, they have had very large crowds on the Sunday of the show.
